Colorado AIDS Project | Get Involved | Volunteer

Whether you are a person who loves to socialize or a "get it done kind" of gal or guy, there's a way for you to help at CAP. We offer a wide-range of volunteer activities, from helping with festive events, working in the food bank, or working behind the scenes in administrative capacity.

We welcome you whether you want to try us out for a one time activity or jump in on an on-going basis. We welcome college students or high school seniors who need educational community service learning hours for credits toward graduation. We DO NOT have any court-ordered community service positions at this time.

Ongoing volunteer opportunities

The following opportunities require a regular time commitment during normal business hours. New volunteers are required to attend our Customer Service Training (offered quarterly) prior to volunteering.

Food Bank

Volunteers assist clients with weekly shopping in our Food Bank, which is open Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-Noon.
Food Bank Delivery Drivers Drivers wanted to deliver groceries to clients twice a month on Saturday mornings. Must have reliable vehicle, valid Colorado Driver's license and insurance.

Volunteer Orientations

All people interested in working with CAP are invited to attend our monthly volunteer orientations held at our offices. This one hour session covers topics including CAP services, basic HIV and AIDS information and volunteer opportunities available.
Volunteer orientations are held the first Thursday of every month from 5:00-6:00 pm at the CAP office. No registration necessary.

All volunteers who staff our information tables must attend a one-time Volunteer Training called AIDS 101. This class provides you with an overview of the biological and psycho-social aspects of HIV and AIDS. It's fun, interactive and interesting.
Classes are held immediately following Volunteer Orientation on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at the CAP office.
Email RuJ@coloradoaidsproject.org or call her at 303.837.0166 ext. 461 to register for any of these trainings.
