Development Officer - Grants

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains and researches granting sources to meet the growing and changing needs of the organization. Works closely with all departments to keep updated on program needs.
  • Maintains a calendar of grants and reports.
  • Supervises the gathering and tracking of agency statistics and demographics.
  • Tracks and prepares grant reports to ensure they are professional, complete and on time.
  • Contact and develop relationships with foundations and funders. 
  • Identifies, cultivates, and writes grants to private and corporate organizations.
  • Prepares budget and strategic plan for grants, Direct Mail and Tribute and Memorial campaigns.  Assists the Director of Development in developing agency revenue budget.
  • Works with all departments to ensure mid and year-end reports on all grants that require reports are professional, complete and on time.
  • Supervise grant funding acknowledgments.
  • Use Raiser’s Edge effectively to ensure accurate income and information tracking.
  • Supervise debriefing and evaluation of grants process.
  • Represents Colorado AIDS Project on outside boards and professional associations as assigned.

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years experience in grant writing
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Software a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and poverty issues
  • Commitment to working in a diverse setting with diverse populations
  • Strong commitment to a team oriented environment

POSITION:    OCCUPANCY COORDINATOR – CAP RESIDENTIAL (IN-HOUSE)

RESPONSIBLE TO: MANAGER OF HOUSING SERVICES

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all aspects of CAP Subsidy programs for residential housing.  Duties include client meetings, waitlist maintenance, eligibility screening and background check, income verification, file upkeep, documentation, communication with property management company, recertifications, HQS inspections, trainings, billing, reporting, and all other responsibilities associated with housing subsidy programs.

  • Develop and assist in the maintenance of resources for staff and clients in all areas of affordable housing.

  • Act as liaison between clients and property management company. Assist clients with paperwork, applications, and processes. 

  • Complete move-in orientation and review lease and house rules with clients.

  • Assess client housing needs and make appropriate referrals to programs and services.

  • Track and submit appropriate documentation, billing, and reports to the Manager of Housing Services and appropriate partners/grantors.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with property management company, HUD, and appropriate partners/grantors.

  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, clinical supervisions, and all appropriate CAP staff meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Housing Services.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Significant experience working with HUD subsidy programs; Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) preferred; experience working with HIV infected and affected populations a plus. Must be able to work in a diverse setting with diverse populations.

SKILLS PREFERRED:    Training in cultural competency/sensitivity; excellent organizational and time management skills; computer skills including Windows, MS Access and Excel.


Position: Development Officer – Major Gifts

Colorado AIDS Project (CAP) is a 25 year-old community-based organization that helps those living with HIV, and those at risk, to make healthy choices for a self sufficient, enhanced healthy life.  CAP provides comprehensive services to needy populations managing this chronic disease, educates high risk populations, and advocates for social and health care equity.

This dynamic, innovative organization is seeking an individual to serve as an integral part of the development team as Development Officer – Major Gifts to manage all aspects of CAP’s corporate and individual giving programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and upgrade relationships with major donors, including corporate partners, event sponsors and individual donors.
  • Research and prospect new corporations, businesses and individuals to create new funding.
  • Oversee all event sponsorship elements, including the creation of materials and sponsorship levels, the building of relationships and the fulfillment of all elements of the partnership.
  • Create and implement strategies to maximize matching gifts from corporations.
  • Ensure ongoing communication throughout the year with major corporations and donors, updating them on the status of CAP and their contributions.
  • Working with the Director of Development, oversee and coordinate all elements of CAP’s major giving program, including solicitation, follow up and prospecting.
  • Solicit and prospect corporate and individual interest in planned giving and multiple year gifts.
  • Participate in the development of annual fundraising action plan, specifically corporate and individual donor budgets. Meet individual revenue goals through effective implementation of those strategies.
  • Ensure all corporate and individual donors are recognized in a timely fashion.
  • Actively participate in key community events and organizations that may cultivate funding relationships or promote CAP.
  • Maintain communication and strong working relationships across organization to ensure integration between departments and full utilization of all CAP’s resources.
  • Incorporate Board of Directors and other volunteers into fundraising activities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in field (nonprofit management, business, or related).
  • Proven track record in corporate solicitation.
  • Minimum of three years fundraising experience, with demonstrated ability to meet revenue goals.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and poverty issues.
  • Commitment to working in a diverse setting with diverse populations.
  • Strong commitment to a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Experience working directly with Boards of Directors and Development Committees.
