TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR BODY AND YOUR HEALTH
Colorado AIDS Project encourages all individuals to know their HIV status. CAP offers free and confidential testing for youth and adults. We recognize that testing may be difficult and scary so we strive to create the most comfortable and supportive environment for you. CAP pledges its support to those who learn they are HIV-positive and will serve as a bridge between testing positive and connecting with more comprehensive CAP client services.

Why Get Tested?

  • An estimated 1 million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS. Approximately 25% of those people are unaware they are HIV positive and are spreading the virus at an alarming rate.
  • It can take up to 10 years for a person to experience symptoms of HIV, so the only way to know if you are infected is to get tested.
  • There are treatment options for HIV. The earlier an HIV infection is detected, the more treatment options are available.
  • Having an HIV test is an opportunity to learn more about HIV/AIDS and what you can do to avoid a future infection.
  • You can respect and honor yourself and your partners by having an HIV test.
  • If you have ever shared needles or had unprotected sex, you may have been exposed to HIV

Take responsibility for your body and for your health. You deserve that respect!

Remember – one of the best things you can do for yourself and for your partner is to get tested. HIV testing can be difficult and it’s okay to be nervous. But don’t let your fear get in the way of your health and your future. KNOW YOUR STATUS!
