Why Get Tested?
- An estimated 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS. Approximately 1 in 5 of those people are unaware they are HIV positive and are spreading the virus at an alarming rate.
- It can take up to 10 years for a person to experience symptoms of HIV, so the only way to know if you are infected is to get tested.
- There are treatment options for HIV. The earlier an HIV infection is detected, the more treatment options are available.
- You can respect and honor yourself and your partners by having an HIV test.
- If you have ever shared needles or had unprotected sex, you may have been exposed to HIV.
